What types of files are recommended?

Polyphonic ringtones

Great resources for finding MIDI files for use as Polyphonic ringtones are: MIDI Database, and MIDI Site. — Most modern phones still support Polyphonic ringtones, which are composed of a series of electronic instrument sounds generated by a computer. These were the only kind of ringtone available on older phones, and was what helped make ringtones popular.

Animated GIFs / Screen savers

GIF-files can store short, moving animations in a single image. — These are great for screen-savers if your phone supports them. Try searching for ‘Animated GIFs’ on Google.

Mobile-video clips (3GP)

Mobile17 cannot convert videos to play on your mobile-phone, but if you convert them yourself ... we can help you get them there! — They must still be within the 450KB file size limit, though.

Applications & Games

You can also transfer software to your phone, as long as it's packaged within a single file and within the file size limit. — Java Applications and BREW applications are great examples.
